"Being an otherworldly superstar is all about attitude, and Frigid exudes a nasty elegance that would make Oscar Wilde proud."
Lucinda Catchlove - Nightlife
Joffrey Dumas begins his artistic journey at age eight with classical piano, soon immersing himself in rigorous ballet training through his teens—already channeling the androgynous energy central to his creative identity.
In the mid-1990s, he explores makeup artistry and gender expression as a founding member of House of Pride, a groundbreaking LGBTQ+ multidisciplinary collective. Here, FRIGID is born—boldly stepping into nightlife despite being underage, and experimental theater. House of Pride’s political, avant-garde performances provide the young artist with a platform to showcase his explosive dance skills, shapeshifting presence, and musical talent.

A pioneer of Montreal’s early-2000s electroclash scene, he makes waves as a DJ at Overdose—his legendary party at Club Parking fusing excess, intensity, and unapologetic self-expression. FRIGID quickly becomes a symbol of the city’s nightlife: an artistic renegade and stylish force of rebellion.
In 2004, he emerges as a singer, songwriter, and producer with Machine !, an electro-punk duo with new-wave legend Plastic Bertrand, followed by his solo debut album Bedroom Sessions—a raw, dark, conceptual alternative soundscape introducing his fiercely expressive style. His live shows are wild, visceral, energetic, and emotionally charged.
His 2016 record, VOTH (Violence of the Heart), crafts a bold sonic world where electronic textures crash into grunge energy, sharpened by precise, uncompromising production. The songs deepen—more spiritual and bluesy—while the music videos feature FRIGID’s capacity to transform and express himself in limitless artistic ways.
Today, still DJing and releasing cutting-edge music—always paired with striking visuals—FRIGID stands as a fierce, untamed symbol of rock’n’roll counterculture: free, raw, and gloriously unfiltered.
